Legal Requirements To Get Married In Belize

Your marriage in Belize is legal everywhere in the world! Our ceremonies are performed in English and you will not need to register your marriage upon your return home.

If neither party has been previously married:

  1. Fully completed marriage license application form notarized by a Justice of the Peace
  2. Photocopy of passport showing picture and date of arrival in Belize
  3. One of the parties must be in Belize 3 days prior to getting married and filing the license. We arrange the marriage license and formal registration for you

If either of the parties have been previously married:

  1. Fully completed marriage license application form notarized by a Justice of the Peace
  2. Photocopy of passport showing picture and date of arrival in Belize
  3. One of the parties must be in Belize 3 days prior to getting married and filing the license. We arrange the marriage license and formal registration for you
  4. Original certified final divorce decree.

If either party is a widow or widower:

  1. Fully completed marriage license application form notarized by a Justice of the Peace
  2. Photocopy of passport showing picture and date of arrival in Belize
  3. One of the parties must be in Belize 3 days prior to getting married and filing the license. We arrange the marriage license and formal registration for you.
  4. Original death certificate

Yes! Belize marriages are legal if you are here less than three days. Please inquire direct for legal requirements for cruise ship weddings or ceremonies on your first or second day in Belize.
