Miss Belize and the Belize Zoo – Beauty and Belize
About 10 days ago, i received a call from my dear friend and colleague, Lisa Light of Destinationbride.com. She and her stunning model daughter were coming to Belize after she completed a destination wedding she was doing in Playa Del Carmen. Lisa and I had been working on the Mayan Marriage of Many and have become friends. We decided we’d have a spot of fun with her daughter in a Cotton Bride Wedding Gown, and take pictures at Cahal Pech Maya site, and then come back to San Pedro hang at mi casa, and go snorkeling.
So much for best laid plans. Out of nowhere, the indescribably awesome Jacklyn Greenberg of JagStudios.net. Jacklyn has shot weddings that have made the cover of Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine, Grace Ormond, and dozens of others. Simply put, when it comes to wedding photography, Jacklyn is the Bomb Diggity in New England. She and Lisa were friends and colleagues, so we all decided we were going to pool our talents.
Miss Belize was available and via my contact with the Next Miss Belize Organization, we were able to book her for the 2 day shooting schedule. I’ll blog more about all that another day, but today it’s about the Zoo.
Sharon Matola is truly one of the Top 3 women I admire. What she has done there is absolutely astonishing. She was very gracious about sharing her beloved zoo with us, and i was able to snap some pictures. I cant give any more away, but i did want to share my favorite pictures with you.

Lucky Boy is the now famous rescue black jaguar at the Zoo. The story can be followed on The Belize Zoo’s facebook page. Lucky Boy was left at an abandoned resort, and was just about dead. There was another jaguar at the place, but that one was already dead. Fortunately for Lucky Boy, Sharon Matola and her incredible team got there to save him. He acts exactly as my Luna the Wonder Puppy acts, and just like every other rescue animal – Just sooo happy to be loved.
