Top 10 Reasons to Chose Belize for your Family Vacation

Belize is many things: fishing villages, mayan ruins, relaxed party environment, romantic waterfalls.  But, we are also one of the best places i’ve ever been to if you have a family.  I’ve listed some of my top 10 reason why belize is such an AMAZING place to bring your entire family for vacation!

1. English is our Official Language

2. No Undertow – Barrier Reef Creates a Lake.  For anyone who’s ever taken their child to either the Atlantic or Pacific, the idea of letting your child play at the waters edge is one that strikes terror.  As a grown adult you get sucked in!  Not in Belize!  The Worlds Second Largest Barrier reef, which is yards from our shore line, create a lake effect.  There is no undertow, and there are no waves at all.  Just gently lapping water, so you can enjoy your relaxation while the children can play

3. Mayan Ruins – what better way to teach your child and expand their mind than to climb an ancient Mayan Temple with them.  This is no museum!  This is REAL…and children (like adults) learn more through experience.  Let them experience something truly special!

4. The Belize Zoo – This zoo is 100% donation driven, and ALL animals were either found abandoned, nursed to health, or taken from fools who think a jaguar is a good pet.  The zoo is laid out such that it is completely natural habitat.  You will not find a single bit of concrete, however, you might look up and see a monkey looking down!  The zoo is an amazing hands on experience that is truly loved by adults and kids…after 5 years here, i still LOVE the zoo!

5. Cave Exploration – Ancient Mayan caves are everywhere, and guided tours are affordable.  Ancient pottery, skeletal remains, and other artifacts are found everywhere

6. Belizean Children – how lovely for your child to make a new Central American friend! The children here play on the beach and in town and are accustomed to simply being FRIENDLY.  What a great way for a child to learn tolerance!

7. Volunteerism – Belize has needs as any developing country would have.  Taking a day out of your vacation to Volunteer at one of the Animal Shelters, local schools or library is a GREAT way to help children appreciate the abundance of the US

Snorkel the Reef – Since we are so protected by our beloved Reef, the waters are calm and serene.  As a result, snorkeling for even the most inexperienced, young guppie can make “Finding Nemo” a very fun, education thing!  The waters are only about 4 feet deep, so again, Mom and Dad can relax a little bit and enjoy the ecosystem that sustains us all in awe and wonder…and relaxed!

9. Golf Carts not Cars – Since the main mode of transportation on Ambergris Caye is a golf cart, getting around is safe, and SLOW.  Not nearly the worry about getting mowed down by drunken tourists

10. The Food – Fresh Fish, Fresh Veggies, Fresh Everything!  We dont have the preservatives in our foods as you’d find up north, so even the pickiest of eaters will enjoy expanding their palettes
