AFWPI membership

As we continue to grow RTAB and promote the unBelizeable Belize, I marvel at the partnerships we are forming.  The Association for Wedding Planners International, led by Richard Markel, is a fantastic resource for brides, planners, and vendors.  With over 1500 new brides a month, being a member of this organization will do wonders for our beloved Belize by bringing the right kind of tourism to us.  By directly contacting those brides for their wedding, honeymoon, anniversary or just regular old vacation, RTAB will directly impact the tourism of belize.

The AFWPI has a huge Familiarization Trip on the Mayan Riviera in Mexico this September.  We are working out a ‘tag on trip’ to Belize for those folks.  It will give them a great chance to see what its like to come here through Cancun, and to use the lovely Henry Menzies for private transport.  We are thinking we are going to have to limit the group coming down to only about 20 – 30, as they had 240 people last year!! EEGADS!! thats a lotta wedding planners for our tiny place!  hopefully next year we’ll be able to accommodate so many direct hits to generate revenue.

the biggest problem i have right now is that i’m struggling to find the voice to express how i feel about all this.  I really truly do believe that the only talent i have is a talent for business.  Everyone has their strengths, and this is mine.  As such, i’m mostly excited by bringing good business and good revenue, with profits to follow, to those around me.

As Belize continues to come into its own, its increasingly important to me to provide sustainability to our growth in a way that truly does raise all boats.  I’m not a short sighted person, i believe that by bringing these tourist dollars here we can help to bring  a greater standard of living to all belizeans, which will in turn help the country as a whole.   I know this sounds…arrogant? pompous? self-agrandizing?…  but only to those that havent been here.

Belize is one of those places you instinctively want to protect.  In a very short time you become part of the tapestry and therefore part of the living organism that IS belize.  We all want to help her, cause we love her.

As much of a stretch as it may seem, an AFWPI and RTAB partnership really does do just that.
