Back to the Dress
With the approaching of the resetting of the ancient Maya Calendar in December 2012, I’ve become obsessed with the Ancient Maya Sites in Belize. One of the only places in the world you can get married on an actual Mayan Temple is in Belize. Sure, you can get married on the beach, and my tips for picking a dress apply to beach weddings as well, however, my obsessions have always slanted to the “out of the box” and thats why i adore Maya Temple Weddings.
Having recently coordinated and attended one of the first same sex, female weddings on a mayan temple, i was once again reminded of one thing – It’s HOT. Some months ago i wrote a blog about choosing the perfect destination wedding dress for a destination wedding. The number one tip – Breathable Fabrics. Nothing is more important. I know, dear reader, you dont think i’m right. I know :). But i am. I really really want you to enjoy your wedding and to feel your best, and if you are in a fabric that does not breathe, not only will you not want to participate and dance, your hair and make up will be a mess because you are just….HOT. Fortunately, Britton my Maya Temple Bride, opted for a long plain cotton column dress. But this got me thinking, doesnt anyone make a really great cotton wedding gown?
Google to the rescue!
Here are my picks for the cutest, chicest cotton wedding gowns i could find on the web 🙂 Any suggestions for ones i missed? pass them along and i’ll post!
Oh, and not to mention – Cotton and natural fiber dresses are uber-eco friendly, too
The Cotton Bride – you have got to see some of these gowns. Not your grandmothers lace, nor her bodice! It is ASTONISHING how elegant and beautiful these dresses are.
Eleanor Eco makes some pretty dresses. I think these are more “one of a kind” and can be found at the link attached, or also i found some on etsy.com
Marilyn Pate Cotton Wedding gowns are very reasonably priced. The one shown is only $385. Which, for a custom made, eco friendly gown, is as friendly to your wallet as it is to you budget.
Cady Erica at GloriasBridal.com is on sale for only $129! Nice deal, great little dress. I’d glam this one up with some vintage jewelry in colors or plain rhinestone for a little more pop, pizazz and pinache
