Bacon Themed Wedding

“Bacon” has suddenly become a major big deal.  It’s like a “THING”.  I knew i was seeing bacon related jokes, tshirts, etc everywhere, and that it has become a stock answer for any questions.  So much so, that when i posted the questions “What themed wedding would you like to see” on my RomanticTravelBelize facebook page, there were several “likes” and one comment: Bacon.

Okaaayyy….sorta gross, but what the heck.  We do have a ton of pork, and we have some really creative uses for Pork.  Once again, i turn to Facebook and ask “Please list some Belizean Pork Dishes” . We have some GREAT options from Pibil and a Pig Roast to local Bacon Pancake Cupcakes.

So, one step closer…so off to pinterest and bing!  Did you know they make Bacon Flavored everything  including condoms?!  Who Knew!?! There are entire websites dedicated to bacon…wow… had no idea.  It get’s “cheesy” very quickly, but i do think it can be done with class.  Like these cocktails:

 For example, i think it would be great to make this little jar of Bacon Salt out of local Belizean Bacon for your guests.  Useful and tasteful! bonus!

 

But of course, NO bacon themed party is complete without the main Bacon – that is Kevin Bacon! You could have his movies playing, or movie posters for decor…you could do anything with Kevin Bacon

Apparently, there’s an old jazz song called “Goodbye Pork Pie Hat”, which of course keeps with our pork theme.  There is some nice artwork associated with it too:

Dont forget Sir Francis Bacon – i’m sure we can use him somehow too!

To see more ideas, check out my Pinterest Board  So, now that we know what sort of decorative accessories, music, invitations and the like we’re going to have for our Bacon Themed Wedding in Belize, we need to sort an itinerary.  My suggestion is as follows:

Welcome Party – Pulled Pork Sandwiches, music from “Footloose” and lots of snacky bacony things.  And Beer, bacon and beer belong together.

Rehearsal Party – Beach Pig Roast and Pibil.  Pibil is a local treat, and they actually bury the entire pig and cook it underground using magic or something like it.  Pig on a spit over a fire on a private beach with live music and all sorts of beach fun.  Maybe we rent a basketball hoop, and instead of playing “HORSE”, you play “BACON”

Wedding Reception –  Pork Chops or other deliciously local pork option, and i love these bacon “turtles” for the midnight snack as the party goes on

Yes, i know, a Bacon Themed Wedding is…well….bizarre…But VERY funny, and actually could be a lot of fun. I’d love to come up with creative ideas for your wedding, especially a bacon themed one 🙂
