Baring Fruit and Making Friends
Over the last year, i’ve been toiling away in my loft here on La Isla Bonita acting a bit like the Mayor of Whoville trying to get Horton To Hear Us. The two weeks had Horton shouting back! In the process, i got to remember what it was like to be a ‘traveler’ (not to be confused with a tourist), re-discover my inner-kick ass-ness, spark my creativity, and generally get all my bits knocked into their proper place.
A Traveler Versus A Tourist
I must admit, sometimes i’m a bit of a travel snob. I generally consider myself a traveler as opposed to a tourist, and i do know the difference. A Traveler is someone who is wondering this earth for some period of ill-defined time, and is characterized by the people you meet, and the places they tell you to go. In the process of working and rapidly changing gears to our changing whims, Terry Gruber http://www.gruberphotographers.com/flash.htm spotted two british traveling forest nymphs in Caye Caulker. These girls not only worked their fannies off, they did what travelers tend to do…impact the people who’s lives they cross.
If you’ve never truly traveled, just gotten on a plane or bus and GONE….with no real destination, just the journey itself, I highly recommend it. It takes some getting used to, but the universe takes care of the travelers as it did for these girls who, thanks to Terry, were able to stay at and eat at the amazing Portofino Resort, got some much needed motherly love from Amy and Lisa, and I made sure they were well looked after once they got to Belize City for their transfer to….
I cannot wait to see the pictures of these girls. Terry’s talents are astonishing, and the results are going to be stellar!
Amy Rubins from Fete Perfection
As part of the Scouting Trip with Lisa Light, we were so grateful to have Amy Rubins, from Fete Perfection in Minnesota come along for the week. Amy has a ‘mom’ quality to her, that makes you know in an instant, that she cares and that you will be cared for. She is a very focused, detail oriented person, who no doubt would make anything she touches turn to gold.
Last but most certainly not least, The Incredible Ms. Lisa Light, from Destinationbride.com, author of a book of the same name, overall networking genius, and REALLY cool person, worked with me for nearly a year to bring this event together. Her style, her brains, her desire to do a good job, and her work ethic are just a smattering of things that make her who she is. I am unable to adequately express how grateful I am for her mentoring. Its been many years since i’ve worked with such high achievers in the states, and its been refreshing to re-awaken that part of myself that had been dormant for so long. Lisa’s involvement with Romantic Travel Belize has been vital to my own energies, and i cannot thank her enough.
In the coming weeks i’ve got deals working with some VERY high end, high distribution Bridal Magazines. We are most certainly the up and coming Hot Spot for the chic and stylish who want to be somewhere exotic and undiscovered. That is Belize. Come, Be One With Belize!
