Big KISS in little Belize- Simmons Proposes in Belize

i am watching A&E’s “Gene Simmons Family Jewels”.  Tonight is the airing of the season finale in which Gene Simmons will propose to girlfriend of 27 years, mother of his 2 children, and woman he has refused to marry for 27 years.

I know what it was like to wait  4 years…but 27! Woman, you DESERVED that trip to Belize.  But i digress….

I sit here in my living room in Belize, watching my facebook account explode, and just sit here in awe to hear about my tiny little country on TV.  People still say “Belize, wait where is that?”.  Noone knows about this amazing little gem, and i’m so proud to be here and i love sharing it.  Tourism is an essential part of our economy and the man who held out for 27 years, the King of Kiss, gets engaged here!  Such an exciting an opportunity for us!

I am so proud to watch how things unfold.  It just ended, and i have to say,  “Job well done!”  to the team that pulled that together.  The show highlights belize beautifully and shows people exactly how amazing this place is.    Victoria House was their host here in San Pedro, and is the dock he drops to one knee and proposes at.

It”s hard for someone in the states to understand how big this is for us down here.  Our nation is so small, every person that you see and they are meetings are people that we all know.  So from that end, its super cool.  To see my beloved belize as i would be seeing it if i was still sitting on the sofa in philadelphia is VERY cool.  sorta trippy actually 🙂

Meanwhile, having grown up in the 70’s and 80’s, i understand the cult like draw of Gene Simmons.  Well, i dont “understand” it, but i get that it exists.  But then again, i have always been a far of his show, not his music.  I suppose, for me, i loved that he managed to turn that moment in time, that goofy band that wore make up – into a brand.   A “brand” this is still pertinent, and i just admire the guy.  So for him to be here, and to truly help raise the profile of this tiny little nation of 300,000 people.

I wonder if he really will ever understand how helpful that sort of thing is for us.  Personally, i’m hoping that a bunch of women are sitting out there,  and are saying to themselves “ooo, i wanna get married in belize!’.  But more than that, I truly hoping that all the dudes out there, the ones that havent found the damn cahones to get around to asking her to marry you, to the ones who see Gene Simmons proposal as a “loss” and just another one fallen…and have pointed to Gene Simmons as an example of why NOT to propose…  I am hoping you realize that the true ROMANCE, Inspiration, and energy of Belize can even make your icon  of single-hood, finally give in and give the lady a rock already! 🙂
