South Neighborhood Watch Hero Honored
Two years ago Officer Coy of the South Ambergris Caye Neighborhood Watched attended Bandage International‘s CPR and First Aid training as part of an ongoing effort to increase safety in San Pedro. Mr Coy complete the two day course on Friday. On Saturday, his new found skills were put to the test when his then 4 year old nephew was found in a swimming pool. As a direct result of the training he received, Officer Coy was able to save his nephews life using CPR.
Fast forward to present day. Tacogirl.com sponsored my attendance, so I was able to be on hand for a special ceremony honoring Officer Coy’s quick thinking level headedness. The owner and lead trainer from Bandage International, Darryl, gathered us all together after Day 1 of training to present Coy as an Honorary Member of Bandage International, including his own uniform shirt emblazoned with their logo.
And as if this wasnt enough excitement for the now 7 year old, he was over the moon with the super thoughtful and generous gifts Darryl and his team brought from Canada for him
This is the sort of story that really drives home how easy it is to save…or lose…as life. I implore all hotels, businesses, and public sector agencies to please encourage and/or mandate some members of your team come to this incredibly valuable training next time.
This little boy is here today because of a $25 usd class his uncle took. CPR saved this boys life.
awesome.
