San Salvador, Here I Come!

When I moved to Belize, i was in the fortunate position to take quite a bit of time off.  For the first several years I traveled a LOT.  In the first three years or so, I had managed to travel as far as I could reasonably go on a bus from Belize.

One of the best parts of being an expat in Belize is that I live smack in the middle of some of the most amazing, exotic, culturally interesting, spiritually  nurturing and beautiful places in the world – Central America.  Belize is often known as the “Central American Gateway to the Caribbean”, and as such provides endless discovery and as i call it “Buggering Off” opportunities.

I have wander-lust, and a rather bad case, I must admit.  Have had it for years.  Wonderful affliction, wander-lust.  But like all lust, when it hits, it hits hard, and it must be satisfied.  And since I’ve gone as far as I reasonably can on a Bus, and i am going to go to San Salvador.  I am most excited.

San Salvador is the Capital City of El Salvador, a small country south west of Belize.  Its a one hour fight from Belize City.  I had a great deal of trouble finding good info on San Salvador, and since I’m not a “chain hotel” kind of girl, i felt fortunate to find a Boutique Hotel for $45 USD per night.  www.arboldefuego.com.  Eco-friendly and “Green”, so thats nice.   They have arranged for a private taxi to meet me at the airport to take me the 45 minutes to the City as there is no public transportation.  As i’ve never been to San Salvador before, I always trust the “people on the ground” so i feel very comfortable with my first foray into El Salvador 🙂

I’m very excited to shop a little, maybe find a great little bar with live music, hear an orchestra or theatre, museum or two, shop a little more, do something interesting and spontaneous.  Ya, that sounds like a pretty good “to do while in San salvador” list 🙂

stay tuned…
