The Beach Brides Bag
My apprentice Alice and I were at a wedding recently, and the bride had a huge (but cute!) “Brides” tote bag. Alice noticed her bag was in many of the shots, and quickly retrieved it. In the meantime, i found this blog “The Bridal Bag and What should it Hold” by Bridalstyle.com I read their list, and while it’s good, it’s fairly useless for a Destination Bride. While yes, you need mascara and lip gloss, there’s oh so much more….
Destination Bride Bridal Bag – It’s in the Bag For A Destination Bride
- Make up – no-brainer, lipgloss, mascara, zit cover up. these are the “well, duh” things.
- Camera/iphone – your perspective is important, and interesting! You’ll want to have it on hand so you can update your social media and make all your friends at home jealous
- Sunscreen – You’ll want to put someone in charge of your shoulders, neck and face. You dont want to be all burnt to a crisp on your wedding night! Coconut oil makes an incredible natural sunscreen that will also moisturize you throughout the day as you apply it. You’ll be soft and silky as you get between the sheets at night.
- Sarong/wrap – The strong trade winds can make even the hottest bride chilly in the evening. Carry a sarong or wrap with you, it will also help protect your hair from the breeze as well (think Shirley MacClaine in ‘Terms of Endearment’ as she drives off with Jack Nicholson)
- Tissues – you’re bound to cry at least a little bit. I often tuck a tissue in the bodice of my bride as she leaves her dressing suite…just in case
- Cash in Small Bills – you may find yourself in need of small bills for tipping as emergencies come up or as you get exceptional service. Just nice to have on hand should you need it
While a woman’s purse is like a fishbowl – we will grow to the size of it, in this case, do try to edit. You dont want to be lugging around an enormous tote or suitcase. Just keep it cute and personalized and most of all, Fun.
